Seven army battalions to Lahad Datu
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, seven battalions of troops sent to Sabah to help the police.
He said, out of which, five battalions sent to Lahad Datu while the other two each in Tawau and Sandakan.
"For the people of Sabah, I would like to inform you that the army to help the police in full.
"ATM has sent seven battalions in operation now. Five battalions in Lahad Datu, a battalion in Sandakan and Tawau a battalion, "he was quoted as saying in the Twitter site.
He co-Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein arrived in Felda Friends, noon today.
They arrived by helicopter of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) from Lahad Datu Airport and continue to Komtek Friends 16 Battalion 17th Field Force for security briefing Village Tanduo invasion.
Meanwhile, Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad said the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) ready to lose members in the police force to help solve the crisis in the state.
He said the ATM will not intervene in the operations of the police until done.
"Until now, ATM acts as a second line of the address violations in Lahad Datu. I'm not supposed to be the answer for the incident in Lahad Datu led Interior Ministry and the police," he told reporters after the launch of the book Blue Ocean Strategy Council (NBOS) the Ministry of Defence today.
Erling said the ATM is now acting as the second line in helping to control security in the east coast and the people in the state.
"Right now, it (the incident) under the Ministry of Interior ... PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) who are authorized to handle or headed that situation.
"Right now, we (ATM) in just standby. When asked to take over, we take over, "he said.
Abdul Latif said the people had the right to know the progress and accurate information about what is happening in Sabah, but hope they do not give off any speculation in relation to the incident.
Meanwhile, in Lahad Datu, Army Chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin confirm improvement in strength and tactical logistics battalion from outside Sabah in helping the police to keep the peace in the state's east coast.
"We will collaborate with the police to keep the peace and prosperity of the people of Sabah," he said at a news conference there are also attended by Chief of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar.
Survey on Sahaba Felda 17 in Lahad Datu find security authorities put armored units in the area.
