Full chronology of the crisis in Lahad Datu
Security forces have the expertise to defeat the remnants of armed intruder after air and ground attacks launched this morning to end the violations that went on for 21 days in Tanduo village, about 130km from Lahad Datu, Sabah, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi .
He said although the area has encroached on the challenging terrain and figuratively 'deep play' invaders, but the expertise and tactics of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) is quite commendable.
Therefore, he said, Malaysia does not need any foreign intervention in addressing violations in Sabah because it has a strong security force.
At 4 pm, the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar told reporters that the remnants of the enemy believed to be still hiding in the village Tanduo, near Felda Sahabat 16, about 130km from Lahad Datu.
"Right now calm but no gunfire as the counter attack happen and we hope that with this condition, intruders stopped but we need to always be on the alert for any eventuality," said Ahmad Zahid through telephone conversations with Bernama TV here today.
In this regard, he said security forces were on the alert in certain areas that are likely threatened by tactics 'reverse psychology' used invaders.
"We always adhere to the Geneva Convention and we use the ethics of war where the enemy be treated with humanity," he said.
Ahmad Zahid said five army battalions have been deployed in a number of Tawau and Sandakan, and will remain there until satisfied with the cleaning operation intruders.

injuries or arrests of members of the armed intruder.
