Confident rise


Although the current performance of the Mercedes AMG Petronas machinery seen fail to compete with other elite teams, team principal Ross Brawn is optimistic the two compartments driver is able to grab the top six in the qualifying session on Saturday.

Competition in Australia last week saw both the Mercedes engine exhibit poor performance with former world champions Lewis Hamilton just finished the race in fifth position while Nico Rosberg shoots failed to finish the race.

However, both drivers started well when Hamilton grabbed the third grid and Rosberg, sixth in qualifying.

"I admit that in Australia we are not very competitive when faced with pit stop strategy while Rosberg more unfortunate because the machinery of technical problems.

"I think not much difference with the challenge at Sepang this weekend.

"The weather here is very difficult to predict but if we can overcome all the problems in practice and qualifying sessions, the two machines will be more competitive in the actual race on Sunday," he said.


Brawn says Mercedes need to get a better result at Sepang as well as playing on the site itself, the positive results of both machinery allows mechanics to find a solution to improve the performance of the engine at the next race. "There is a little gap between the entry of our time with some of the elite teams. That is why we need to get more convincing results at Sepang.

"Most importantly the actual race. Tires, pit stop, the weather all play a role. "
