Breaking news: 6 police killed, six members of the armed group killed


Another policeman were killed in an ambush a group of armed men in the village of Sri Jaya, Siminul, Semporna, Sabah yesterday, bringing the latest total police personnel were killed in the incident to six people.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said six members of the armed group were also killed in the incident in the village at 8 pm on
water.

In operation 'rescue' launched today and ended about 7 pm, Ismail said police also managed to produce 19 policemen with

"The identity of the victim will be communicated to family members first before appearing on the official website of the police," he said.

At a press conference earlier, he said the five policemen from Semporna District Police Headquarters was assigned to conduct an investigation in
the village police received information about a group of armed men in the village.

Ismail told a press conference earlier that police officers were shot while heading to a premises in the village and they returned fire in self defense.

At a press conference this evening, Ismail denied that there was an alleged incident of police armed groups to be held hostage beheaded.

"That's just a rumor and I ask the public not to believe any rumors," he said.

He brought up the situation in the village is back to normal.
