Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia encourages all Filipinos to prioritize safety following the latest developments in Lahad Datu, Sabah, when the operation is performed to eliminate armed foreign terrorists.
   
They are also advised to be more cautious in their daily activities.
   
In a statement yesterday, the ministry said the Malaysian Embassy in Makati City, Manila and consulate-general office in Davao City to keep in touch and work closely with the relevant authorities in the Philippines in monitoring and evaluating the level of security to ensure the safety and well-being of the people and the interests of Malaysia in Philippines.
   
It touches on the protest held a group of 40 people outside the embassy, which started at 10 am yesterday and ended without mishap at 11.30 am.
   
The demonstrators, said the ministry, believed to represent a small number of local groups who wish to voice their views on the situation in Lahad Datu.
   
"Malaysian Foreign Ministry to express appreciation to the Government of the Philippines, particularly the Philippine National Police for providing security cover to the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila and consulate generals in Davao City," the statement said.
   
The statement also said that given the current security situation in both the diplomatic representative offices and surrounding areas are in a state of calm and controlled, both the embassy would remain open unless otherwise inform the ministry.
