Robert Kuok remains the number one richest person malaysia


Robert Kuok, the Malaysian tycoon based in Hong Kong is still the richest man in Malaysia with wealth worth RM46.1 billion, an increase of 0.88 per cent from RM45.7 billion last year, followed by businessman Ananda Krishnan and the Chairman / CEO Public Bank, Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow.

Ananda, who finished second since 2004, had the largest declines in wealth when it dropped to 5.23 percent from last year, with assets held through Marshall Co., Ltd. valued at RM32.90 billion as at the date of calculation at January 18, 2013.

Tea, maintained its position for the third consecutive year with assets worth RM13.73 billion, according to the Malaysian Business, Malaysia's premier business magazine in the issue of February 16.

It said the combined wealth of the 40 richest Malaysians increased slightly this year despite the volatile capital markets and uncertain.

Collectively, the top 40 Malaysia worth RM194.86 billion as at January 18. This is an increase of 0.86 percent compared to RM193.2 billion a year ago.

During Malaysian Business is first to assess the wealth 40 richest Malaysians in 2002, their combined assets amounted to RM41.7 billion and Robert Kuok Hock Nien appear at the top.

The magazine said the fourth on the list is Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan, who jumped from sixth position last year, replacing Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng of IOI Group, which dropped to sixth place.

Quek wealth, through its major subsidiaries, Hong Leong Group and Guoco Group, valued at RM11.09 billion this year.

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary maintain fifth position this year with a wealth of RM10.60 billion, up from RM9.53 billion a year ago.

Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng, through his company, IOI Group, down from fourth place in 2012 to sixth place with assets worth RM10.56 billion.

Chairman of the Genting Group, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, and his mother, Puan Sri Lee Kim Hua, each still in seventh and eighth positions. Lim increasing wealth per cent to RM8.12 billion 7:06 while Lee added to his wealth
by 9.82 per cent to RM7.23 billion.

Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King, through machinery, Rimbunan Hijau Sdn Bhd, is in ninth place this year with assets worth RM6.35 billion, down one one per cent of his wealth last year.

Complement the list of the 10 richest property tycoon based in Singapore, Ong Beng Seng, by Hotel Properties Ltd, with a wealth of RM4.02 billion, after a decline of 18:36 per cent from last year.

Malaysian Business said an interesting fact is that since 2002, a total of 81 tikun have joined the list of 40 richest people of Malaysia and of that number, 15 managed to remain on the list.

Overall, strong-billionaire tycoon's wealth can be attributed to the performance of the stock market and price inflation, as a large portion of their wealth is based on their respective shareholdings.

It also reflects their company's performance and the positive growth of our economy in the past 12 years.

For this year, there are 31 billionaires - another increase over last year - and 23 of the 40 people on the list saw their assets increase from last year. Of this total, 14 registered growth of more than 10 percent.

The list also recorded three new comers. Datuk Desmond Lim of the Pavilion REIT debut on the list at 15th place, with a fortune valued at RM1.869 billion. Two others, Datuk Tan Heng Chew from Tan Chong Motors Holdings and Tan Sri Kua Sian Kooi from KSK Group, re-entering the list, respectively ranked 37th and the 40th.

As in previous years, the wealth of 40 individuals on the list were evaluated based on their respective shareholding interests in companies listed on Jan. 18.
