Assembly Speaker Silver files defamation suit


Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (DUN) Silver, Mayor R. Ganesan filed a RM25 million defamation suit against the five-member Legislative Assembly (Assembly) Perak DAP in the High Court here yesterday.

Five opposition assemblymen was Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (Sitiawan), V. Sivakumar (Tronoh), Nga Kor Ming (Pantai Remis), A. Sivasubramaniam (Buntong) and Lim Pek Har (NIAS).

Ganesan, who is also Deputy Chairman of the Perak MIC said, all the defendants had issued a statement after the Council of slander upon the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) of the 12th here recently.

"Before this, I was informed legal action may be taken to the individual who publishes, causes to be published, reproduce, repeat, repeat words cause for defaming me by saying there is a compact disc my misconduct.

"I also made a police report so that a thorough investigation is done to the parties involved on 22 December," he said when met at the premises of the High Court here yesterday.

Earlier, his attorney, Azad Bashir Abdul Karim Bashir to submit a writ of summons in the High Court at 11:53 am.

Ganesan told, these five defendants failed to respond to the letter claims that they withdrew the allegations and apologized to his lawyer sent on 15 January.

As such, he has filed defamation suit against all the defendants to recover damages injunction, interest and costs.

On 21 December, and Sivakumar Sivasubramaniam at a press conference alleged that received envelopes containing a compact disc that appears on it Ganesan porn pictures with a woman.
