PM rousing welcome, 80,000 attend the Open House 1Malaysia Chinese New Year
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today expressed feeling happy and fortunate to receive applause from the more than 80,000 visitors during Open House 1Malaysia Chinese New Year organized by Barisan Nasional (BN) states in Han Chiang College courses here.
Earlier in his speech, he said, his joy is because this is the first time he was able to celebrate the Chinese New Year together with the population of Penang.
"Thanks to the people of Andhra Pradesh as has been welcoming my wife and my family with so lively once.
"I feel lucky and very happy that this year I can do something I never did that to celebrate Chinese New Year with the people of Andhra Pradesh," he said in a brief speech at the Open House 1Malaysia Chinese New Year today.
Najib, who is accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and her Ashman Razak, Nooryana Najwa and her fiance, Daniar Nazarbayev arrived at about 10:50 pm The Chairman welcomed the Barisan Nasional (BN) Teng Chang Yeow.
Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Minister in Prime Minister's Department Senator Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, the chairperson of the State of Penang Umno Liaison, Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman and BN leaders.
He also urged the local community so that mutual respect culture of every community in Malaysia to strengthen unity for a more harmonious future.
He said, solidarity and mutual understanding is very important as a driver of economic progress and development in the international arena.
"This is the government to be fair to all Malaysians. This is a government that has a real plan for the future of all Malaysians.
"The people of Andhra Pradesh want better housing and affordable housing, and the government will cash it ... believe in the promises are kept," he said.
In his speech, Najib also announced to upgrade the Han Chiang College became the University College which specializes in the field of mass communication studies.
Before that, children Ashman Razak delivers his New Year's greetings in Mandarin Chinese and applauded while Rosmah join the choir sang two songs Mandarin Gong Xi Gong Xi and Da Di Hui Chun.
Open House 1Malaysia Chinese New Year Chingay saw a performance, a traditional dragon dance, folk dance and singing performances range from the famous singer Amzah Shila homeland.
The highlight of the event was graced with performances from well-known Korean singer of the popular Psy Oppa song Gangnam Style.
