Plus serial rapist sentenced 20 years in prison
A serial rapist who is serving a prison sentence of 28 years, choked after the Sessions Court here yesterday sentenced him to 20 years and 10 strokes for raping a student.
Judge Azman Mustapa in his judgment order the accused, Amran Che Jaafar, 30, to serve the sentence after the sentence for the previous offense.
Based on the charge, Amran charged with raping a 23-year-old college student in college toilet here between the hours of 8:15 am, February 9, 2010.
Subsequently, he was charged under Section 376 (2) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
Amran is now serving a sentence of 28 years imprisonment and 17 strokes for various offenses, including rape, sexual misconduct, and theft.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Nor Hamizah Ghazali, while the accused was unrepresented.
During the proceedings, Amran claimed he was already aware of the offense committed and asked the court to take into account the ailing mother and two children.
"I have two children and a mother who is ill and had to undergo 28 years imprisonment and 17 strokes of the offense before," she added as mitigation.
Nor Hamizah however apply heavy sentencing with regard to the public interest.
"I also asked the court to take into account the trauma that will affect the long term to the victims," he said.
