Australian Open: Chong Wei, Zakry-Fairuzizuan reached the semi-finals

PLAYERS world number one Lee Chong Wei will not face problems to book semi-final slot Australian Open Championships in Sydney when young easily defeated China, Qiao Bin in the quarter-finals today.

Competition held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Chong Wei goes down as the top seed took only 33 minutes to beat Qiao Bin, 21-11 and 21-8.

In the semi-final, Chong Wei will face another Chinese, Tian Houwei have defeated country, Chong Wei Feng, 21-19 and 21-15.

Also accompany Chong Wei in the semis tomorrow is the only representative of the men's doubles under the auspices of Kuala Lumpur Racket Club (KLRC), Zakry Latif / Fairuzizuan Tazari who beat compatriot, Gan Teik Chai / Ong Soon Hock.

Zakry Latif / Fairuzizuan Tazari will meet Indonesian pair Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan who has subjected the country's first doubles, Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong 21-13 and 21-6.

Meanwhile, different fate suffered by the women's doubles and mixed doubles when their respective countries were stranded in the quarter-finals today.

The women's doubles, Vivian Hoo / Woon Khe Wei failed to match the grandeur of the Indonesian partner, Aprilsasi Princess / Vita Marissa when they lost 11-21 and 19-21.

Tan Aik Quan / Lai Pei Jing failed to continue his commendable performance in the mixed doubles pair of hands when losing to China, Huang Kaixiang / Chen Qingchen 15-21 and 14-21.
