S. Samy Vellu

Former MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu expressed anger with MIC president Datuk G. Palanivel and his deputy Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam on the issue of "winnable candidates".

He believes they misunderstood the remarks on Wednesday, a day after the dissolution of Parliament when he said that he is a winnable candidate for the constituency of Sungai Siput, in response to questions from reporters.

Samy Vellu, Palanivel said he did not ask for him nominated for the seat in the general election to the 13th, "he said in a statement in response to a previous statement that Samy Vellu, Palanivel will not run in this election.

"Palanivel and Subramaniam misunderstand my statement during the presentation of the press conference at Bukit Aman to the families of the heroes who died in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

"It is true I told reporters that I believe I am the candidate can win. But does not mean I'm asking for Palanivel I want to compete again in Sungai Siput," he added.

He said he was saddened by the fact that they do not reflect his actual meaning.

"They (Palanivel and Subramaniam) should contact me first to find out what happened at the press conference (at Bukit Aman) before opening your mouth," he said, adding they both show immaturity in politics.

"I have fought in both political (Palanivel and Subramaniam) in the party when I was president.

"They need to remember where they are now, because of my political struggle for them," he said.

Samy Vellu said he gained the trust of appointing Najib as BN Coordinator at Sungai Siput, will ensure BN recapture the seat no matter who the BN candidate.

"I will continue to work in Sungai Siput to do what He entrusted to me," he added.

Samy Vellu is Sungai Siput Member of Parliament for more than three decades from 1974 until he lost to Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj of the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), with a majority of 1,821 votes in the 2008 general election.
