Police salaries, ATM follow civil service


The government increased the new salary grade for officers and soldiers and police to synchronized with other public services in the New Remuneration System (NRS).

Adjustment called Transformative Remuneration System (SST) would replace the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM) applied before, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Council of Civil Service premier-13 (Dialogue XIII), the International Convention Centre Putrajaya Convention Centre (PICC) here today.

He said the salary adjustment for the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) which came into force on January 1 last set to tap 233.192 security forces throughout the country, namely 109.209 123.983 Police and ATM.

Rank in ATM services and the police are now synchronized with the General Civil Service tandem grade layer change position or salary grade.

It accounts for changes in the scope of functions of a special task, rank structure and eligibility for the scheme ATM and police, he said.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Chief Secretary, Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa, and Deputy Director of Public Services (Development), Department of Public Service, Farida Datuk Mohd Ali.

In the meantime, he said, the government agreed to improve the performance of implementing the promotion of civil servants to shorten the time-based promotion services from 15 years to 13 years.

He said the implementation of improvements based on excellence that will benefit more than 17,000 civil servants who qualify.

In addition, the government has in principle agreed to extend the method of execution fast route promotion, promotion paths promotion experts and high skill paths for improving career development paths of civil servants in the long run.

Methods of implementation, including the development of criteria and a special panel structure for the three new routes will be detailed before being implemented, he said.

He also gave glad tidings to 182.434 civil servants who are at the maximum salary scale and do not enjoy the annual increment by announcing annual increment (KGT) of three hikes, effective January 1, 2013 for all maximum salary structure in Schedule-Maximum Minimum Wage.

In addition, all public servants receive benefits transfer the salary of an accelerated KGT on July 1, 2013 with public sector officials get an increase of between RM80 to RM320 according to their grades, involving an allocation of RM1.5 billion.

If there is no salary adjustments or revisions, the government agreed to special wage movements of three per cent is given to those who attain and at the maximum salary, he said.

The Prime Minister said the government has agreed to connect nearly 50,000 civil service contract for another year when their contract expires on 31 December next pending a comprehensive review conducted on this matter.
