Trusts must undergo psychiatric screening


Maid entering the country must undergo psychiatric screening basis to ensure their mental health before starting work.

Insistence was made by the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) following cases of maid abuse against his children, aged four months.
PPIM secretary Datuk Nadzim Johan, said basic screening was able to identify whether the maid has a mental illness or otherwise.

"I believe there's a simple method to perform a mental examination. For example, in questions and also their behavior.

"Like what happened, obviously we can see the assistant has a mental problem and feared individuals capable of such acts beyond the limits," he said when contacted BH, here, yesterday.

Meanwhile, President of the Malaysian Foreign Maid Agencies (Papa), Jeffrey Foo called for action to the relevant agencies as well as asking the authorities to investigate whether the maid has been registered with the local agency.
"There are maids coming to Malaysia through the agency that is not registered under the PAPA.

"At first, they use their social visit passes to travel but up in Malaysia, he changed the pass maids.

"It's become a problem. They are not trained. Record and test reports also unknown past health conditions or indefinitely, "he said.

Foo said local employers who employ maids Indonesia should ensure that the maid is taken through a registered agency or otherwise.

Head of the Industrial Association of Indonesian Manpower Services, Job Basalamah, said trusts that are permitted to serve in other countries are going through medical tests first.

"All employees will ensure healthy physically as well mentally, and we are mindful of the welfare of their needs this also.

"It's been many years and our purpose is always agreed that a healthy employee before work," he said.
