84 blast victims in Pakistan


A suicide attacker detonated a bomb at a bazaar area Shia Hazara town Wednesday, leaving 84 people dead, including women and children, while 200 others were injured.

The bomb was placed in a water tank in Hazara rocked bazaar on the outskirts of Quetta, the oil and gas center of Balochistan province. The blast occurred at 6 pm local time.
Explosives weighing 800 kilograms placed in the water tank next to a level buildings collapsed immediately cause it to explode, Quetta police chief, Zubair Mehmood.

We are concerned there are a number of others were buried. Rescue work in progress but I think it's difficult for them to survive, he said.

Spokesman for the banned militant group, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) claimed the group was responsible.

Secretary of the Interior region, Akbar Hussain Durrani, said women and children were among the injured and killed and some residents may confirm crushed rubble.
Population for obstruction

Officials and witnesses said the first group of mass does not allow the police, rescuers and journalists to reach the scene.

They get angry and start a protest, others throwing stones at the police before the representatives of the government and medical units permitted, Durrani said.
Governor Balochistan, Nawab Zulifqar Ali Magsi announced a day of mourning over the incident.

Balochistan is located on the border of Iran and Afghanistan more frequently witness violence between Sunni and Shiite factions. Two parties covering a fifth of the 180 million population of Pakistan.

On 10 January, at least 93 killed and 121 wounded after two suicide attackers exploded a bomb in Quetta.

Sect violence death toll reached 400 people last year, mostly by gunfire from the vehicle.
