National Education Blueprint to be tabled to Cabinet on Jan 30

The National Education Blueprint 2013-2025 which is now 99.9 per cent complete, will be tabled to the cabinet for approval at a special session on Jan 30, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin, who is also the education minister, said its implementation would elevate the status of education in the country.

“I do not expect any problem in getting the approval from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the cabinet.

“The blueprint is an inclusive plan where no one will be left out from enjoying the best in education. If I may say, the plan will be one of the best in the world,” he said after attending the 1Malaysia luncheon with the people and handing out schooling aid of RM100 each to students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Haji Abdul Malik in Cheng near here.

Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and other state leaders.

Muhyiddin said the numerous measures undertaken by the government as outlined in the blueprint would lead to a major shift in the education system.

The Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025 is expected to see a total of 11 shifts or areas of reform are outlined to produce students with six key attributes over the next 13 years in three phases, or 'waves', with the first being over three years, and the second and third being five years each

Rightly, teachers have been identified as the key role players, the catalysts and the motivators to bring about the visionary school outcomes.

The blueprint would also cover all aspects of the syllabus, right down to the structure of the Education Ministry.

The proposed changes in the blueprint would also see major shifts, including in the English Language, Mathematics and Science as well as the quality of teachers.

It is also expected to stress on the importance of the realignment of the Education Ministry staff to state and district levels where they could become better involved in improving the performance of schools.

Muhyiddin said: "We want to raise our position from the present status to become among the best in the world within the next 13 years. It is a very significant shift in our education system.

"A major shift that will involve every category, not only the educators but also the leaders of the PTA (Parent-Teacher's Associations) and the community. We group everyone together in the plan which I consider to be inclusive because we don't segregate anyone, all will be involved," he said.
