Group: Sharifah Zohra's behaviour unacceptable

Gerakan Youth wants action taken against Suara Wanita 1Malaysia (SW1M) president Sharifah Zohra Jabeen Syed Shah Miskin for her "unacceptable" behaviour towards a Universiti Utara Malaysia undergraduate during a forum recently.

Its education bureau deputy chief, Baljit Singh, said SW1M must reprimand Sharifah Zohra for the way she had carried herself and berated the student.
He said the incident should not have happened and must not recur as students should not be prevented from raising issues related to education.
"When youth speak up and raise issues like education, they should not be silenced."
He said the government wanted to listen to views and could handle criticisms.
The video clip of Sharifah Zohra berating K.S. Bawani, which had since gone viral, drew many criticisms from the public, including politicians from both divides.
The video showed Sharifah Zohra cutting off Bawani while she had the floor, pulling away her microphone and repeatedly saying "listen" and "let me speak".
Netizens were unhappy with her telling Bavani: "If you equate Malaysia to other countries, what are you doing in Malaysia?"
Speaking at the Penang Gerakan headquarters here yesterday, Baljit took a swipe at her "lack of maturity" over her education qualifications remark.
Sharifah Zohra had said that while Bawani only had O-level qualifications, she was a degree holder.
"Maturity is shown through a person's actions, not level of education. She (Sharifah Zohra) even grabbed the microphone when Bawani was speaking and she still said she had showed respect to the student.
"She should apologise to Bawani."
Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said what happened was humiliating.
"Even if she (Sharifah Zohra) didn't agree with the student's views, she should have replied in a more refined manner," said Saifuddin, who had since met the student.
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said Sharifah Zohrah did not represent BN when she made an appearance at the forum.
"Anyone can misuse the 1M brand. No one has even heard of her or SW1M.
"Please listen to me: this Jabeen lady does not represent Barisan Nasional," he tweeted.
Bernama quoted MIC Youth deputy chief V. Mugilan as expressing disappointment at the way Sharifah Zohra had handled the situation, saying she could have been more diplomatic.
