Cape Verde coach Lucio Antunes counts Jose Mourinho as one of his friends, only they don't talk football and there haven't been any tips handed out by the Real Madrid boss.
That means Antunes' achievement of taking the tiny island country to their first African Cup of Nations -- and first major tournament at all -- is all his own work.
Antunes and his group of close-knit players defied Africa's footballing hierarchy to beat four-time African champions Cameroon in qualifying on the way to South Africa.
They will open the tournament against the host today, but there's no advice to take from Mourinho for the country's biggest sporting moment.
Antunes said on Thursday of Mourinho: "He's never given me any tips concerning football. We just talk about our families." AP
