JOHOR BARU: A policeman from the Motorcycle Patrolling Unit was injured after being hit by a speeding car in Jalan Desa Jaya, Taman Desa Jaya, here, at 1pm yesterday.
It is learnt that the driver of the white car, which had a Singapore plate number, was trying to evade arrest.
Rasdan Raob, 42, said he was passing by when he saw the car being chased by a policeman on motorcycle. The car attempted to make a U-turn near the mosque, but it skidded and landed in a drain.
"Then I saw the car's driver, in his 20s, getting out of the car and running away," said Rasdan, who could not identify the model of the car.
Johor Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dr Hashim Haron said the policeman sustained an injury to his left elbow.
He said there was no roadblock in the area and the policeman had wanted to stop the driver to help in a police investigation.
