21 Malaysians do protest held in Singapore

Malaysian police arrested 21 people after a demonstration at the Merlion Park yesterday, the Straits Times newspaper reported.

This was done even though the police had given advice such gathering violated the laws of Singapore.

"The police would like to stress, while outsiders are allowed to work and live here, they have to comply with our laws.

"They can not bring in the internal issues of their country to Singapore and do activities that may disturb the public peace, as there might be with a different group.

"Those who violate the law will be dealt with seriously," the newspaper quoted a police spokesman as saying in a statement.

IU detention committed after the warning issued against nine Malaysians as' actively participate in illegal gatherings "at the Merlion Park about 4:50 pm on Wednesday, in which about 100 people converge to protest the results of the General Elections to the 13th Malaysia 5 May.
